The Purpose
We developed the KID IN CAR/¡BEBÉ EN COCHE! car window stickers to provide simple reminders to parents and guardians to never leave their children alone in a car.
The Problem
Each year, approximately 35-40 infants and children throughout the country die from hyperthermia after being left alone in vehicles. Although this number has remained relatively consistent over the last 10 years, every one of those deaths was preventable. Children as old as 13 years of age have died from hyperthermia in vehicles, although the majority are infants less than 1 year old.
The inside of a car can reach temperatures of over 120 degrees F within minutes.
The Solution Only the following states make it illegal to leave a child alone in a vehicle:
CA, CT, FL, HI, IL, KY, LA, MD, MI, NE, NV, PA, TN, TX, WA
The following states have similar legislation pending:
AL, AR, AZ, IA, KS, MA, MN, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OK, RI, VA
The following states have no such legislation pending:
AK, CO, DC, DE, GA, ID, IN, ME, MT, ND, NH, NM, OH, OR, SC, SD, UT, VT, WV, WI, WY
